Black Powder: Epic Battles: American Civil War Gettysburg Battle Set - Lost City Toys

Black Powder: Epic Battles: American Civil War Gettysburg Battle Set

Fought over the first three days of July in 1863, the battle for Gettysburg proved to be the high tide of the Confederacy and the turning point of the American Civil War. The Confederate army of North Virginia, under General Lee, and fresh from victory over the Union at Chancellorsville, assaulted the Army of the Potomac under Union General Meade at the crossroads town of Gettysburg in the deadliest battle of the entire conflict. The battle ended following the near suicidal attack known as Pickett's Charge which led to the battered rebel army withdrawing from the field. Lee's invasion of the North has been halted. This box set contains over 2,000 men. Each of the two armies are presented on colour-coded plastic sprues; the push-fit pieces are extremely easy to assemble - enabling you to quickly get to the business of gaming this fascinating era of history on the epic scale it deserves. Warlord Games Black Powder Epic Battles: French Middle & Old Guard - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Black Powder Epic Battles: French Middle & Old Guard

Napoleon created the Imperial Guard as an army within an army. To gain access to its hallowed ranks was the dream of many French soldiers. Better pay, food, uniforms and a swagger that carried them all over Europe - it was a post of great honour and they worshipped their Emperor. They were far from being palace guards however as long and active service made them crack soldiers who could be relied upon to get the job done. This plastic set contains enough troops to field three Guard battalions (80 soldiers in each) with accompanying mounted officers. Old Guard are recognizable by the brass plate on front of their bearskin hats and the rear patch atop them. The Middle Guard bearskins didn't carry the brass plate or rear patch so these can be painted over as if fur. We have added a few extra heads; those who wish to further differentiate their units can replace some of them with the shako or the bonnet to convey the poorer supplied Middle Guard although it isn't mandatory! Also included are units of Marines of the Guard (30 soldiers) and Engineers of the Guard (30 soldiers). These add a further dash of colour and variety to the French army. To cover the Guard in the attack Napoleon fielded 'His lovely daughters', large 12-pounder cannon, crewed by excellent gunners and which could reach out further than most Allied guns. A dangerous foe indeed...Contents:3 Guard Battalions of 80 Men each - with optional head options to represent poorer uniformed Middle Guard3 Mounted Brigade CommandersMarines of the Guard (30 Men)Engineers of the Guard (30 Men)3 Foot Artillery 12-pdrs1 Full-colour Napoleonic French flag leafletModels supplied unassembled and unpainted

Warlord Games Black Powder: Epic Battles: American Civil War Starter Set - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Black Powder: Epic Battles: American Civil War Starter Set

With the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860, the tension between the Northern and Southern States boiled over into outright hostility. Birthed in the South, the Confederacy fought to maintain its independency whilst Northern troops headed south in a bid to preserve the union. Four years of hellish fighting ensued, consuming the nation. It was a war the likes of which the Americas had not seen before, and would never again. It is one of the most studied military conflicts in history, with over 237 named battles in addition to innumerable minor actions and skirmishes. Tactically, battles were still largely linear - regiments frequently fired all their ammunition only to be relieved by a second wave of troops passing through the line. However, the technology of war had become all the more destructive, and casualty rates were atrocious, leading to some historians citing the warfare of the American Civil War to be a precursor to that of the 1st World War over 50 years later. The Epic Battles system allows for gamers to refight these battles on a huge scale. The game is based on the familiar award-winning Black Powder rules system, with a few period-flavour tweaks to cement the battles in the ideologies of American Civil War doctrines. This box set contains no less than 2400 men. Warlord Games Black Powder: Anglo - Zulu War: British Starter Army - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Black Powder: Anglo-Zulu War: British Starter Army

A casual look at Tommy Atkins of the Victorian period gave little away about his fighting abilities. Standing 5´5" on average, and often shorter, he may or may not be able to read or write. This appearance was deceptive, however. The average British redcoat was the most dangerous animal in Africa, equipped as he was with the Martini-Henry breech-loading rifle which he was capable of firing 15 times a minute out to 1200 yards range in volley fire if needs be.His legendary discipline, his marching ability ´enough to traverse all manner of terrain´ and his determination to fight his enemies, which were legion, all made the British redcoat an implacable foe.Well led, well-equipped and thoroughly trained in his abilities, he blazed a trail for Empire all over the world. Cheerful and confident the redcoats of the County Regiments served their sovereign well, smashing their enemy with concentrated rifle fire and, if necessary, selling their lives dearly behind the thrust of their wicked long bayonets.Providing support for the British army were Natal Native Contingents. Largely being used as support for the Main British forces in South Africa they became the main defense force against the Zulu forces. Recruited from the local populace, mainly from the Basuto and Mponso tribes, this force excelled in dealing with Zulu due to an extensive history of fighting them.Contents:60 plastic British Infantry20 plastic Natal Native Contingent
