With war clouds gathering, the British general staff ordered the acceleration of their cruiser tank programme !a� fast. reliable and reasonably armoured fighting vehicles that exploit weak points¨aœin the enemy lines and spearhead breakthroughs. One of the successful designs was the Tank, Cruiser, Mk VI Crusader, more commonly known simply as the Crusader.Armed with a 2-pdr main gun and later upgraded to a 6-pdr, it also had a co-axial machine gun. The Mk I carried a small hand-traversed turret armed with a Besa machine gun in the front hull although this was often removed or left unmanned by the unimpressed crews of the Mk I and Mk II.The Mk I and Mk II variants of the Crusader primarily saw action in the Western Desert where they would symbolise the British armoured formation in the desert, with their speed lending themselves so well to the highly mobile nature of the war in the desert and the traditional cavalry tactics the British employed.

Initially produced as a replacement for the M3/M5 Stuart light tanks, the armour of the M24 was purposely kept light, with a glacis plate only 25mm thick (although its heavy slope increased its effectiveness). A vastly upgraded lightweight 75mm gun (compared to the 37mm gun found on the Stuart) and its much lower silhouette made it popular with those crewing it. The M24 was nicknamed 'Chaffee' by the British after the US Army General Adna R. Chaffee, one of the key proponents of tank development and use in US armed forces. Nearly 5,000 M24 Chaffees were produced during World War II, the first arriving in Europe in November 1944 where they were issued to F Company, 2nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Battalion and F Company, 42nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Battalion, both part of the 2nd Cavalry Group (Mechanised). During the Battle of the Bulge, in the Ardennes the following month, these units were rushed to the southern sector. The Soviet SU-85 Tank Destroyer is an Assault Gun that can dish it out and take it too. It is not just fast (Movement 3) but packs a punch (Firepower 5 which can be upgraded to 6 with the 122mm M-30S Gun Card). For extra initiative in the movement phase, the V-2-34 Engine Upgrade Card can be used. More importantly, upgrade your initiative during the Shooting Phase with Improved Aiming Equipment. Soviet forces were often times noted for their camouflage ability, with that in mind players can also add to their Survivability with the Concealment Card. As if that weren't enough, Commander Leon Khokhlov can be added to help in Repairs or use his Sixth Sense to get an extra movement for free!

The American M18 Hellcat Tank Destroyer can be categorized as a "glass cannon"; able to dish out loads of damage but vulnerable to counter fire. It is not without its advantages however. The Hellcat is not only fast (Movement 3) but has a base Initiative of 8 with a 5 Firepower (6 Firepower if equipped with the 90mm AT Gun M3 but Initiative drops to 7). The survivability of the M18 (rated at a 0) and its 4-hit points can be mitigated by adding upgrades (and it has some good ones). Other options include the Wright Continental R-975C4 engine (+2 initiative in the movement phase), Improved Aiming Equipment (+3 initiative during the Shooting Phase), Situational Awareness (+2 Initiative), and Commander Abel Smythe for extra survivability and initiative during the Movement Phase.

The German Jagdtiger Assault Gun is not only a Tank Destroyer to be reconned with but a literal beast as well! With a massive 10-hit points and packing 7 Firepower opponents are going to be hard pressed to stop it. The Jagdtiger's one weakness is its light flanks which astute opponents will try to take advantage of. Upgrades include the Maybach HL 210 TRM P30 engine (+1 initiative during the Movement Phase), Binocular Telescope, Improved Aiming Equipment (+3 imitative during the Shooting Phase), Armorer, and Andreas Hartman a Loader Crewmember.

Fast and maneuverable but not as heavily armoured as the enemy panzers, Crusader Light Tanks use speed and cover to protect themselves.

The Russian T-34-85 is a great all-rounder Medium tank with solid stats and Mobility 3, making it ideal for brawling it out with other tanks. Being a Medium Tank means it can re-roll a blank Attack die to ensure consistent damage. Keep the base Firepower 5 or pair it with the 122mm T-11 gun to give the T-34-85 High Explosive, this iconic tank is a force to be reckoned with on the tabletop. Additional upgrades include Extended Turret (+1 Initiative), Turbocharger (+3 Initiative during Movement Phase for Medium Tanks), Snap Shot (+2 Initiative during the Shooting Phase) and Commander Nikita Ovsyanniko.

The American M4A3E8 Sherman is a favourite tank for all 'Furious' commanders. This version is an upgrade over previous Shermans with a Firepower of 5, and 5 Hit Points. Turbocharger and a Ford GAA engine boost the M4A3E8s Initiative to an impressive 10 in the movement phase so you can get the jump on your opponent. Use this tank straight out of the box, or enhance it with a wide variety of upgrades to meet your situational and strategic needs. Additional upgrades include 105mm M4 Gun upgrade (+2 Firepower, -1 Initiative), Eagle Eye (modify 1 Attack die from Hit to Critical), and Gunner Quinn Kennell.
