Warlord Games Bolt Action: Kriegsmarine - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Bolt Action: Kriegsmarine

The men of the Kriegsmarine were often asked to do more than serve at sea. U-Boat and ship crews could be found in land actions in many theatres, wearing their trademark blue sailor's uniforms or the grey-blue U-Boat leathers as they took the fight to the enemy. The German Navy (or Kriegsmarine) had the peculiar battle honour of being involved in the first action of WW2 and also its last.Infantry units of the navy, equipped with Wehrmacht weaponry and wearing their trademark dark blue uniforms and steel helmets, assaulted the Polish port of Danzig in the opening action of the war and, five years later, flew into the maelstrom of Berlin, landing in parks and on lakes using seaplanes or any other available transport aircraft. This time they were equipped with panzerfausts in an attempt to stave off the avenging Russian armour. They formed at least three divisions and some regular army officers were placed in the units to give them the value of their experience. They frequently fought under their usual officer, so a unit could be led by a Korvettenkapitan or U-Boat commander. They fought in Poland, Narvik, Russia, Dieppe, Arnhem, many of the cut off German garrisoned ports, as well as Holland and Berlin. The Welsh 53rd Division fought them regularly in Holland and found them full of fight, giving them the nickname of the "Blue Devils".

Warlord Games Bolt Action: German Pioneers - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Bolt Action: German Pioneers

Germany's Assault Pioniers were skilled at building all manner of fortifications, communications lines, tank traps and minefields. In addition to building useful structures, they were adept at the destruction of similar enemy positions, blowing railway lines and making roads unsafe for the enemy to travel along. As the German quest for global superiority stalled and finally crashed down around them, the pioniers were tasked with the vital job of slowing the Allied advance, be it by booby trap, minefield, blown bridges, or taking the fight directly to the enemy.Often overlooked in favour of the dashing panzers or elite Waffen-SS troops, the pioniers were the unsung heroes of the German military machine and you can now field them on the battlefield with these superbly equipped miniatures! Within this boxed set you'll find flamethrowers, demolition charges, anti-tank rifle, mine detector, assault pistols, engineers packs and much more besides!German Pioniers contains:* Enough plastic and metal components to make 31 German Pionier miniatures. Warlord Games BA: Soviet Winter Infantry - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games BA: Soviet Winter Infantry

When the German army crashed over the Russian border in 1941, Hitler was confident of a short, sharp campaign. He nearly got one, but heroic defence by the massive Soviet armies slowed the Nazi advance. It was done by the simple private soldier, "Ivan" as the Germans called him. Brave, solid, and loyal, these soldiers endured dreadful battle conditions. Their equipment was unsophisticated but functional, much like the troops themselves. The bitter fighting in Finland had taught some hard lessons to the Red Army where thousands of their men fell victim to frostbite. The cold weather kit later issued was warm and comfortable, frequently padded or quilted, and was much envied by the German troops shivering in thin overcoats. These tough men could lie out in the snow for hours before making their attacks. Urrah!Soviet Infantry (Winter) contains:Enough plastic components to make 40 Soviet Union infantry miniatures, equipped to fight in the harsh winter of the Eastern Front. Includes a host of options to allow for different weapons and command models.Weapons included:Mosin-Nagant rifle (scoped, with bayonet and without), PTRD Anti-tank rifle, submachine guns (PPS-43?, PPSh-41 and PPD-40), Mosin-Nagant carbine, DT-28 light machine gun, Tokarev semi-automatic rifle (and bayonet version), pistols and rifle grenade launcher. Warlord Games Black Seas: Royal Navy Fleet - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Black Seas: Royal Navy Fleet

By the late 1700s, Great Britain had established itself as the most prominent and powerful navy of the time. This was mostly due to the discipline and commitment of its sailors, and the quality of the training for its leadership positions. The only way to rise through the ranks of the Royal Navy was to prove your mettle in action and bypassing gruelling exams. This was coupled with a very well managed gunnery programme that trained the men to shoot rapidly and accurately. You can read more about the Royal Navy in the Age of Sail here. Why sail the Royal Navy? The Royal Navy's national special rules demonstrate the power of a Royal Navy fleet. Indeed, they'll have a great bearing on how you select the components of your fleet. The quality of the Royal Navy's training is represented by their 'Drilled' special rule, which confers a bonus to shooting, and the 'Admiralty' rule confers an extra level of reliability to each of your ships. As such you may find yourself fielding a smaller number of ships than other fleets, though you'll be able to deck these ships out with upgrades. Each will have a staying power and reliability both in sailing power and in unleashing their weaponry. The Royal Navy is poised to dominate the Black Seas.Contents:3 plastic frigates6 plastic brigs3 plastic third rates1 resin first-rate1 bomb ships baseA selection of metal figureheads and backplates for famous Royal Navy Ships:- HMS Ajax - a 74 gun third-rate ship of the line- HMS Colossus - a 74 gun third-rate ship of the line- HMS Mars - a 74 gun third-rate ship of the line- HMS Indefatigable - a 44 gun frigate from 1795 (she was originally a 64 gun third rate)- HMS Euralys - a 36 gun frigate- HMS Naiad - a fifth-rate frigateRoyal Navy Flags, Sails & rigging sheets + Bobbin for RiggingGame cards and wake markers

Warlord Games Black Seas: 3rd Rates Squadron - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Black Seas: 3rd Rates Squadron

A 3rd rate ship, as defined by the British rating system, was a ship of the line which mounted between 64-80 guns. Usually, this would mean two gun decks. Despite their relative size and power compared to larger 1st and 2nd rates, it was considered that 3rd rates maintained an effective, perhaps even superior balance between sailing ability, firepower and cost. For a number of nations, 3rd rates were the most popular ship size. Cheaper to operate and easier to sail without the sacrifice of offensive capability, the only ships a 3rd rate could not single-handedly engage were larger three-decked ships. A large number of 3rd rates were built and employed on a variety of missions.Read more about 3rd Rates and their role in Black Seas here >>The KitThe 3rd Rates Squadron kit is generic, meaning you can use it to represent ships of any nation. The frame has options for you to customise your ships, in the form of differing figureheads and stern plates; enabling you to make your fleet truly unique. The 3rd Rates Squadron box contains all you need to get these vessels to the tabletop. These are suitable for navies of any nation. The kit includes a bobbin for rigging your vessels, sails and decals for every nation capable of building & sailing third rates, as well as all the gaming materials for using the vessels in your games of Black Seas.Contents:3 plastic 3rd RatesPrinted sailsShip cardsWake markersBobbin for riggingAcetate RatlinesSheets of flags & pennants

Warlord Games Black Seas: Frigates & Brigs Flotilla - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Black Seas: Frigates & Brigs Flotilla

Frigates were perhaps the hardest-worked of warship types during the Age of Sail. A small warship with a perfect balance of speed, armament and resilience that made it one of the perfect vessels for single-ship action and privateering against merchant ships. It usually had one main gun deck as well as the guns positioned on the top decks. These were categorised as either 5th or 6th rate within the British Rating System, dependent on the number of guns they mounted. The 5th rates were the archetypal frigates of the period. Used for single-ship actions and privateering, they could make their crews very rich as a result of the share of the prize money for any captured ship. A frigate was a desirable posting for a Royal Navy officer as they often saw action, so glory and promotion were more likely in addition to monetary benefits.Frigates scouted for the fleet, went on commerce-raiding missions and patrols, and conveyed messages and dignitaries. Usually, frigates would fight in small numbers or singly against other frigates. They would avoid contact with ships-of-the-line; Indeed, even in the midst of a fleet engagement, it was bad etiquette for a ship of the line to fire on an enemy frigate which had not fired first... Wargamers take note!BrigA two-masted square-rigged vessel, with between 10 and 18 cannons, frequently used in combat actions by various navies. Ships with less than 20 cannons were considered Unrated. These were not really meant to participate in large battles - that was the domain of the ships of the line. However, they were the vessels of choice for privateers and still played a valuable role during larger battles, relaying orders and messages in a similar fashion to the 6th rates. The Frigates & Brigs Flotilla box contains all you need to get these vessels to the tabletop. These are suitable for navies of any nation. The kit includes a bobbin for rigging your vessels, detailed sails and pennants for every nation, as well as all the gaming materials for using the vessels in your games of Black Seas.Contents:2 plastic frigates & 4 plastic brigsPrinted sailsShip cardsWake markersBobbin for riggingAcetate RatlinesSheets of flags & pennants

Warlord Games Blood Red Skies: Douglas Dauntless & Devastator squad - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Blood Red Skies: Douglas Dauntless & Devastator squad

At the Battle of Midway the US Navy relied on two aircraft: the SBD-3 Dauntless dive bomber and TBD-1 Devastator torpedo bomber. At Midway, Dauntless aircraft crippled all four of the Japanese carriers. The importance of the Douglas SBD Dauntless' performance over the course of the war cannot be overstated. Despite relatively poor manoeuvrability and only adequate performance, it was this aircraft that crippled all four of the Japanese carriers in the theatre-defining Battle of Midway. Despite this performance, the type was phased out before war's end, though it had only entered service in 1940.The TBD Devastator entered service in 1937 and enjoyed a brief tenure as the most advanced flying aircraft for any navy in the world. However, with rapidly evolving technology it was already outdated by the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor. At Midway, 41 Devastators recorded zero torpedo hits and only six returned to their carriers, their only arguable success being the distraction of the enemy Zeros from the Dauntless Dive Bombers. The aircraft was withdrawn from service shortly after Midway - replaced by the Grumman TBF Avenger.Contents:3 Warlord Resin Dauntless aircraft3 Warlord Resin Devastator aircraft6 Advantage Flying Bases1 Punchboard with Game Tokens2 Aircraft Cards (Dauntless, Devastator)1 Doctrine Card (Interlocking Fire)2 Aircraft Trait Cards (1 x Sluggish, 1 x Laden)1 Waterslide Aircraft Markings Sheet

Warlord Games Blood Red Skies: Aichi D3A & Nakajima B5N squadron - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Blood Red Skies: Aichi D3A & Nakajima B5N squadron

The D3A 'Val' was a dive bomber and the B5N 'Kate' was a torpedo bomber. Coordinated strikes from these two aircraft redefined the future of naval aviation and sounded the death knell of the battleship. The Aichi Dive bombers would ideally cripple the anti-aircraft ability of their target to facilitate the approach of the much slower torpedo bombers. They are best remembered for their involvement on the attack on Pearl Harbor.A naval dive bomber with many similarities to the German Ju 87 Stuka, the Val was armed with two fixed forward machineguns and two rear trainable ones. It carried a crew of two and a light bomb load. Used in the anti-shipping dive-bomber mode, the Val was a mainstay of the Japanese carrier-based war effort.Although the B5N compared favourably to Allied counterparts at the start of its involvement in the war, it was already approaching obsolescence in 1941. It still served throughout the entirety of the war due to the delayed development of its intended successor, the B6N. It had a 3-man crew, pilot, navigator/bombardier/observer, and radio operator/gunner.Contents:3 Warlord Resin Aichi D3A 'Val' aircraft3 Warlord Resin Nakajima B5N 'Kate' aircraft6 Advantage Flying Bases1 Punchboard with Game Tokens2 Aircraft Cards (D3A 'Val', B5N 'Kate')1 Doctrine Seasoned Pilots mini card2 Aircraft Trait Cards (1 x Vulnerable, 1 x Laden)1 Waterslide Aircraft Markings Sheet

Warlord Games Blood Red Skies: Battle of Midway Starter - Lost City Toys

Warlord Games Blood Red Skies: Battle of Midway Starter

The evolving nature of naval warfare gave more and more prominence to the carrier, and the control of island airfields were of paramount concern to the greater strategic concerns of the Pacific theatre. The air war over the Pacific, therefore, provides a fascinating focus for the tabletop gamer, and there was no battle more crucial than Midway, on which our brand-new Blood Red Skies Starter Set centers.Blood Red Skies is a tabletop miniatures game in which you take command of a force of fighter aircraft in battle. The emphasis in Blood Red Skies is on controlling a large number of planes at once. Action in the game is fast-paced, with no pre-plotting or book-keeping required. A smallish game of Blood Red Skies, with six planes per side, can be fought in forty-five minutes or less.A force is comprised of iconic World War 2 fighter aircraft using the dynamic 'Advantage' system. Opposing pilots can also use card-based aircraft traits, doctrines, Ace skills and theatre rules to make the most of their planes and fighting environment. The Battle of Midway starter set contains everything you need to get playing, including rules, tokens, dice, game cards, and crucially 12 highly detailed Warlord Resin aircraft with which to battle. The Grumman F4F Wildcat When the US Navy and Marine Corps entered the Second World War, they had only one effective fighter aircraft available to them: the F4F Wildcat. Fortunately, the Wildcat proved more than equal to the task of holding the line. The Mitsubishi A6M2 'Zero' The Mitsubishi A6M Zero was a fast, modern fighter, but had no armour for the pilot. When the Zero (derived from the Japanese name Reisen - meaning Zero Fighter) was in the hands of aggressive and well-trained pilots this weakness was rarely apparent. The US aircraft are provided in blue-coloured resin and the Japanese in white/cream, making your squadrons easily distinguishable and able to launch into furious tabletop dogfights even before you touch paint to model.Contents:12 Warlord Resin aircraft (6 x Mitsubishi A6-M2 Zero & 6 x Grumman F4F Wildcat)12 BRS Advantage Flying Bases2 BRS Midway punchboards1 BRS Plastic Token Sprue1 BRS Battle of Midway Rules Booklet1 BRS Quick Reference Card6 Aircraft Cards (Douglas Dauntless, Douglas Devastator, A6-M2 Zero, Aichi D3A 'Val', Nakajima B5N Kate & F4F Wildcat)6 Aircraft Trait Cards17 Doctrine Cards18 Theatre Cards12 BRS Combat Dice1 USN/IJN Self-adhesive sticker sheet1 USN/IJN waterslide decal sheet

Warlord Games Victory at Sea: IJN Aircraft

Witnessing massed airpower at the Battle of Taranto, the Japanese were quick to master the tactic, as seen in their infamous attack on Pearl Harbor. Later in the war, having suffered from terrible attrition and facing defeat, the Japanese turned desperately to kamikaze attacks.Kawanishi N1K1 George: Known to the allies as 'George,' the N1K1 entered service in 1943. Designed as a land-based derivative of the Kyofo« single-seat fighter, the George impressed the Imperial Japanese Navy sufficiently that they adopted it. Armed with two .303 machineguns and four 20mm cannon, the George outmatched the Hellcat and could compete with aircraft such as the Mustang and Corsair.Nakajima B5N Kate: The standard Japanese torpedo bomber and one of the main causes of damage at Pearl Harbor, the Kate was a rugged and dependable aircraft, easily superior to its American counterparts.Mitsubishi G3M Nell: Developed to meet a requirement for a maritime reconnaissance and strike platform, the G3M Nell was capable of fulfilling the tactical bomber or torpedo-strike roles and did so with distinction despite being regarded as obsolete by the outbreak of war. G3Ms took part in attacks on HMS Repulse and Prince of Wales in December 1941, the first sinking of capital ships under way by aircraft.Contents:4 Kawanishi N1K1 George flights4 Nakajima B5N Kate flights1 Mitsubishi G3M Nell flight
